Memorin® contains Donepezil Hydrochloride which is a reversible inhibitor of the enzyme Acetylcholinesterase. Current theory on the pathogenesis of the cognitive signs and symptoms of Alzhemier's Disease attribute some of them due to a deficiency of cholinergic neurotransmission. Donepezil is is postulated to exert its therapeutic effect by enhancing choilinergic function. This is accomplished by increasing the concentration of Acetylcholine through reversible inhibition of its hydrolysis by Acetylcholinesterase. Memorin® is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate dementia of the Alzhemier's type. It is currently proved to be effective in dementia of vascular origin and in attention deficit of children. The dose is simple once daily.
